// How it works
The effects come from our own Power List, and 27 of them point to a canon Quirk that works in a similar way, such as Bakugo's Explosion or Uraraka's Zero Gravity. Every Drawback and Weakness was written for this generator; none are copied from the series.
// Make it yours
A random roll is a starting point. These five habits are what make a Quirk feel like it belongs in the series.
Make the Drawback bodily
In the series, a Quirk is part of the body, so the cost usually is too: nausea, overheating, bleeding ears, a brain that short-circuits. Pick a Drawback your OC feels, not one that just switches the Quirk off.
Give it a rule you can explain in one breath
Zero Gravity needs all five fingertips. Brainwashing needs an answer. One clear trigger makes your Quirk easy to remember and easy to outsmart in a fight scene.
Let the Weakness come from outside
Dark Shadow hates bright light, and Engine stalls when its pipes are blocked. A Weakness another character can exploit gives you fights that are won by thinking, not just by hitting harder.
Match the type to the body
If your OC has tails, scales or wings all the time, the Quirk is a Mutant. If it only changes them while switched on, it is a Transformation. If it shoots or sends something out, it is an Emitter.
Leave room to grow
Most heroes in the series start with a small, clumsy version of their Quirk and train it. Decide what the first, weaker version looks like, and what your OC would have to practise to reach the full one.
Each roll picks five parts on its own: a Quirk name built from word lists, one of the three Quirk types, an effect from 50 Powers on our list, a Drawback and a Weakness. There is no AI involved. A short seed decides every roll, so the same link always shows the same Quirk, and locked slots stay put when you reroll.
They are the three Quirk types fans use for My Hero Academia. An Emitter sends something out of the body, like fire or electricity. A Transformation changes the body only while it is switched on. A Mutant is part of the body itself and never switches off, like wings or engines in the legs.
Yes. The names, effects, Drawbacks and Weaknesses are written by us for this tool, and you are free to use any roll for your own character, story or roleplay. Many Quirks show which canon Quirk works in a similar way, which helps when you describe it to other fans.
